“One year, we didn’t have a teacher here in Loutro. I must have been at second grade then. So, we went to school at Livaniana. Every morning we would wake up, walk to school and back in the afternoon. Simple as that. I remember the postman. We used to hear his whistle in Livaniana, after leaving in the afternoon for Loutro, and later hear him whistle again when we were in Lykos, he would deliver the letters and caught up with us again in Foinikas. He was that fast. He would overtake us in Foinikas, and by the time we reached Loutro, he had already delivered the letters there and was ready to leave again. He was unbelievably fast!”
